Competence model in AIESEC

Currently GAIA members can't get team-experience, but it's good time to discover ourselves and reflect, what was happening. Trainees are getting theoretical knowledge about some skills development and competence model now.

dustbins in my hometown 2

These two dustbins are made of wood, so they seem very natural and harmonious with the environment.

dustbins in my hometown

In a few years ago, there were few dustbins in my hometown just as Baroda, but now my hometown has improved a lot. I chose some typical ones.

This dustbin is devided into 2 parts. People can put the recyclable waste into the right box and others into the left box, so that rubbish can be classified.

Children in the Bright Day School

This week we went to one of the schools in Baroda and gave the presentation about global warming.to the students there. Also Caro made a wonderful presentation about Germany and german culture. We got a very warm welcome from all the teachers and students. We showed the video of global warming to them and asked them to tell 3 main causes of it. Naturally they got the right answer at last and i'm sure they've learned something from it. They also asked so many questions to us. We were very happy. At last, everyone of us was asked to give them autographs. We were surrounded by many students, just like stars. It was a day to remember!!!

Carolin in the Bright Day School

Hello everybody!
Finally on Sunday I arrived here on Baroda airport for joining Gaia project. For the first days I stayed at Pratham's home. I got to know his friendly family and a bit of the Indian way of life. I'm very impressed, especially of the way and kind of eating. Those last four days I went to Navrachna school with other trainees. I did a presentation about Germany and German culture. Especially the easter eggs I brought found great interest I like the school with it's interested teachers and students. I also got to know many of AIESECers from LC Baroda. Thank you for being so helpful as I am sometimes confused about the things happening!
So far I had a good time and am looking forward now to begin with the work on the project!
Regards,
Caro

MELA

We attended a mela for NGOs in Baroda.
Mela is a fair in which NGOs can show themselves. It was held in a playground. Every NGO could have a small store to show itself. Our NGO SOCLEEN put a lot of flowers in the store which made it very attractive. We also had some posters hung on the wall which could show the activities held by SOCLEEN. We walked around and visited other stores. I got to know some knowledge of NGO. NGO focus on different aspects, including environment, woman right, health, helping the disabled, etc.
We also enjoyed ourselves very much because many stores had some goods to sell which made by themselves. Some beautiful bags and decoration were made by the poor women. Some bowls were made by disabled children. There was a NGO which was against plastic bags. They made a lot of cloth bags to sell.
Every NGO can have a chance to show itself on the stage. So we saw some different performance. The one impressed me most was a dance done by some deaf children. They could not hear the music. They could only watch their teacher’s gesture and dance. I was touched by them.
Mela let me know more about NGO. They are really good people who make a contribution to the society.

our work in socleen

We have already worked in socleen for some days. Our jobs are diffierent everyday. However, most work is connected with schools or MSU. Every morning, we went to have a talk with Mr.Modi, and he would arranged for us. We had already visited the zoology, biology and architecture department in MSU. We had a talk with the professors in the department and some students showed us around their departments. From these, we got to know the similarity and difference between the advanced education of China and India.
Today, we went to a high school. We gave a lecture in one classroom. We discussed something about environment with the students there and told them something about China. We had lunch with them and spent a really good time with such lovely children. And we promised to go there again.
A few days later, Mr. Modi will arrange a trip to the temple and palace for us, so that we can know more about India. I'm looking forword to that.

My work in Navrachana!!!

Dear all… it’s the second week since I got my job in Navrachana international school. I think it’s time for me to post and share my work experience here. Right now I am sitting in the IT-room busy with my work plan for the 2 month.

First I would like to tell u what I have done in the last week:

· Presentation about China To be honestly I never spoke for that long time alone before --- a whole session, even in Chinese!!! So it’s really a big challenge for me. At first I was so nervous that I thought I couldn’t handle it. But as I received lots of help from all of you, I was so encouraged to do it as good as I can. After a whole night preparation I talked about my home town, west lake, Longjing Tea, dragon, Chinese zodiac, Chinese food, etc. on the next day. It cannot be called a successful job, but at least I did my best..

Special thanks to Saud… you really helped me a lot for gathering the topics and info. Also to Manthan and Dasha, both of you encouraged me a lot and helped me to think out lots of ideas.

· German sessions It was such a interesting experience to be with the German teacher and students. I gave lessons about Modal Verbs to them, at the same time I learned a lot from them --- English, Gujarat, even cricket… Teachers are kind, students are cute… I couldn’t expect more…

That’s all for last week… In this week, more accurately tomorrow, I will give a speech about Chinese New year in the morning assembly. And in the following days, I will give sessions to grade 2 to tell something about Chinese folk tales. After this week, the same survey which we did in MSU will be carried out in grade 9 to grade 12. Meanwhile I will also give presentations about environment problems in India… And what’s more… I will give sessions to grade 3 to grade 5 about water pollution and traffic pollution… And… according to your non-pollution party, there’s also recycle day/non-pollution day in my plan… if any of you have any idea about that..please tell me..

Again thanks to all of you!!!

wonderful tree lover's day

Last weekend,we started to plant trees with a NGO named TREE LOVER.After two days' hard work , twenty five lovely young trees settled their new home beside the road in Baroda. Only Sarah and Richard belong to the ngo TREE LOVER, but all the members joined in this activity including Manthan and Dasha because we found it a very meaningful job. At first I found the process of this job is simple but a little boring to us,we need to put the young trees in the holes and put the soil in them, then fetch many bottles of water to water them, but at last we finished our job,we feel so thankful to find there're 25 trees besides the road already! It's an amazing job for us ,not only the improve our skills but also do much contribution to the enviroment. Yes,we are all tree lovers!

About trainees and learning

In this week 4 more trainees came in Incredible India for the project GAIA. 4 beautiful and smart chinese girls! We introduced ourselves, made team-building, had a lot of fun and work as well.
Currently we implemented 5 elements of Global learning Environment: self-discovery, learning circles, seminars and conferences, virtual spaces, team experience. We prepared special learning log for our organizing committee and trainees, which is supposed to help them in the learning process (general AIESEC knowledge, project details, planning, sharing thoughts, feedback, developing competencies and skills). After the project realization these workbooks will be signed by NGOs (it will be like Case Study after the internship).
